Advantages of Liposuction at PureSculpting:

Our liposuction technique uses vibration energy to target fat cells, meaning there is less damage to the surrounding tissue. Benefits include the removal of unwanted fat to help you achieve your ideal body shape.

What is Liposuction?

Traditional weight loss methods such as diet and exercise are not always effective for removing fat from certain areas of the body. Liposuction is a cosmetic procedure that removes unwanted fat from the abdomen, underarms, neck, buttocks, and other areas of the body.

At PureSculpting Aesthetic Centers in Jacksonville and Tampa, FL, we offer a minimally invasive liposuction procedure. (Read our lipo reviews on Google.) During this procedure, our plastic surgeons use vibration and suction to recontour and tighten small pockets of fat in the body. Read on to learn more about the procedure, whether you’re a good candidate for liposuction, and what the recovery process is like.

What is LipoSculpting?

LipoSculpting (also called liposculpture) is a safe and natural method of body contouring offered at PureSculpting. This vibration-supported liposuction technique targets only fat cells, which greatly reduces damage to the surrounding tissue and limits swelling.

The rapid vibration of this liposuction method separates and breaks down fat cells in the desired areas of the body, then uses light suction to remove fat cells from your body permanently. The vibration used during this procedure is also calibrated to reduce discomfort and stimulate the skin and surrounding cells to promote skin tightening during recovery.

How is the Liposuction Procedure Performed?

During the liposuction procedure, one of our plastic surgeons creates very tiny incisions in discreet locations to prepare the areas of your body where unwanted fat will be removed. Then a local anesthetic is injected into the operation sites.

Next, the plastic surgeon uses a LipoSculpting device to administer rapid vibration to the target areas. The vibrations break down the fat cells in your body, which separates them from each other, making them easier to remove while simultaneously permanently removing the fat cells from your body.

Liposuction does not heat or freeze your body. While there is minimal swelling, there will be little to no scarring if you follow the post-operative care instructions after the procedure.

What Areas of the Body Can Liposuction Treat?

Liposuction can be used to reshape just about any area of your body that contains unwanted fat deposits, including the:

  • Abdomen
  • Underarms
  • Neck
  • Buttocks
  • Flank
  • Back

Our plastic surgeons can treat more than one area of your body at a time. During your consultation, we’ll help you decide whether your body transformation goals can be achieved in one or multiple liposuction sessions.

Liposuction for Men

If you are a healthy male who is within 30 lbs of your target bodyweight, then liposuction can help recontour your body and take care of those tough-to-get-rid-of pockets of fat

Liposuction can eliminate fat cells around your abs, back, and other areas men may want to reshape. For instance, many men with gynecomastia get liposuction to flatten and recontour their chest.

Gynecomastia is an enlargement or swelling of breast tissue in males, commonly caused by an imbalance in male estrogen levels. PureSculpting can target and remove unwanted fat from your chest to help you feel confident with your shirt on or off.

Liposuction for Women

Liposuction can help women eliminate fat cells in the midsection, back, underarms, waist, hips, thighs, buttocks, and other areas you may want to tone or tighten. At PureScuplting, we help women at every stage of life transform their bodies.

Since everyone’s body is unique, we conduct an in-depth body-form consultation with each client to discuss their ideal shape. We then develop your procedure to address your needs and expectations, leaving you feeling like your best self.

Who is a Candidate for Liposuction?

Healthy adults of all ages and genders who are within 30 lbs of their ideal body weight can safely get liposuction. Liposuction candidates include any patient who desires improvement in the contour or appearance of their stomach, underarms, neck, buttocks, or back.

What is the Liposuction Recovery Process Like?

Our liposuction technique is minimally invasive, so recovery time is typically only one or two days. We perform the procedure from the comfort of our state-of-the-art aesthetics centers using only local anesthetic. Since the patient stays awake, the procedure is done on an outpatient basis. Many patients return to work the next day or even have the procedure done on their lunch break.

Are Liposuction Scars Noticeable?

Our minimally invasive approach to liposuction doesn’t require large incisions, so there’s minimal to no scarring when post-op instructions are followed.

How Long Do Liposuction Results Last?

Because our liposuction procedure actually removes the unwanted fat from your body—rather than freezing or melting it over time—the results are immediately noticeable. After your visit, you’ll continue to see your skin tightening and healing up to 6 months post operatively. The treatment area will have permanent fat cell loss.

How Do I Prepare for My Appointment?

Most patients have minimal preparation for their liposuction appointment. During your preoperative appointment, you will be given a customized plan based on your health history to best prepare you.

How Much Does Liposuction Cost?

The total cost of liposuction is dependent on the patient’s individual treatment plan. At PureSculpting, our liposuction treatments in Jacksonville and Tampa, FL typically start at $1,500.

Additional Liposuction FAQs

How much fat will liposuction remove?

Individual liposuction results vary. Our liposuction technique targets the stubborn fat in areas of the body that won’t respond to traditional weight loss techniques like diet and exercise. The number of unwanted fat deposits you have and your body type help determine how much fat liposuction will remove. Our plastic surgeons will provide more details during your initial consultation.

How painful is liposuction?

Our approach to liposuction is less painful than traditional liposuction. Traditional liposuction uses heavier suction to treat larger areas of the body, and patients typically require several days to fully recover from tenderness and bruising.

Alternatively, liposuction treatments at PureSculpting use a gentler suction technique, so there is minimal swelling and most patients recover in one or two days.

Are you awake during liposuction?

Yes. Whereas traditional liposuction is a surgical fat removal procedure performed when the patient is placed under general anesthesia (asleep), our liposuction procedure requires only a local anesthetic, allowing the patient to remain awake.

We only offer local anesthesia at PureSculpting, but its important to fully understand the risks of general anesthesia if you’re considering liposuction.

When liposuction is performed under general anesthesia, this causes the patient to become unconscious. Though anesthesia is considered safe, there are certain medical conditions that increase the chances of something going wrong.

  • Allergies to anesthesia medications
  • Diabetes
  • Heart Diseases (like heart failure, angina, valve disease, etc.)
  • High Blood Pressure
  • Lung Diseases (asthma or COPD)
  • Obesity
  • Kidney Problems
  • Sleep Apnea
  • Stroke
  • History of Seizures
  • Smoking and Drinking Alcohol Regularly

These preexisting medical conditions can increase the chances that a patient experiences rare but severe side effects of anesthesia, which include—

  • Postoperative Cognitive Dysfunction—Some patients experience long-term memory and learning problems after undergoing anesthesia. Usually, the risk is higher in older people, people with heart disease, Parkinson’s disease, or those who have had a stroke.
  • Malignant Hyperthermia—This is a serious and potentially deadly side effect of anesthesia that occurs during the surgical procedure. Malignant hyperthermia results in a sudden high fever and intense muscle contractions.
  • Breathing Problems—Some patients with a history of breathing problems, might have difficulty breathing on their own again after anesthesia.

Does liposuction leave loose skin?

There is less risk of loose skin with PureSculpting’s approach to liposuction versus traditional liposuction. The vibration energy from our state-of-the-art equipment is designed to not only reduce discomfort but also stimulate the skin and surrounding cells to promote skin tightening after the procedure.

Can fat come back after liposuction?

Liposuction from PureSculpting uses rapid vibration to break down fat cells that are then permanently removed from your body using mild suction. Factors like diet and exercise will impact your ability to maintain weight loss after the procedure.

However, the fat cells that were removed do not grow back. It’s possible to see fat accumulation in an area where you received liposuction, but this isn’t due to new fat cells growing. It is because the fat cells left over have expanded.

What are the risks of liposuction?

People receiving liposuction need to be aware of the potential complications of the procedure. To be a good candidate for liposuction, patients must be in good health and be cleared by a doctor. Certain medical conditions can complicate a liposuction procedure:

  • Poor Blood Flow
  • Coronary Heart Disease
  • Diabetes
  • Compromised or Weaken Immune System

Potential side effects of liposuction include—

  • Seromas—Seromas are pockets of fluid that form in the tunnels left behind from the cannula, the instrument used to perform liposuction. These temporary fluid pockets might need to be drained by a doctor. Be sure to wear your compression garment as directed to reduce the chances of developing seromas.
  • Numbness—Patients might experience temporary or permanent nerve damage at the site of the incision and in the area that received liposuction.
  • Internal Puncture—Very rarely, the tool used to remove fat, the cannula, will puncture an internal organ causing trauma and bleeding.
  • Irregular, Uneven Body Contouring—If you experienced complications during the procedure or received liposuction from an inexperienced doctor, there is a chance the results will look uneven and irregular. Your skin might look bumpy or uneven due to the doctor mishandling the tool or because of an infection or other complication. Always be sure your plastic surgeon is experienced and board-certified.
  • Skin Infection—Though rare, it’s possible that you develop a skin infection after your procedure. Skin infections can be life-threatening if severe enough.
  • Fat Embolism—Fat embolisms occur when solid fat enters the bloodstream and clogs a blood vessel. This is a severe, potentially fatal medical emergency and can cause permanent damage to the heart, lungs, or brain.
  • Lidocaine Poisoning—In rare cases, patients might have an adverse reaction to the anesthetic lidocaine which can cause heart and central nervous system complications.
